I Will Deliver You
"We escaped like a bird from a hunter’s trap.
The trap is broken, and we are free!"

A lot of things come to mind when one of thinks of "deliverance" (a super creepy movie for one thing), but the word simply means "the act of being rescued or set free".
When I was 16 I said a prayer that changed my life and the one feeling I remember washing over me was that of freedom, like a weight had been lifted from my chest and I could finally breathe. I felt it for weeks, like I was floating on air.
There have been a lot of ups and downs since that day, I have found myself on my knees many times, and each time God has come through for me. Not always in the way I expected or hoped for, but He was there.
"He led me to a place of safety;
He rescued me because He delights in me."
--Psalm 18:19 (NLT)
Did you know that God delights in you?
"...the Lord’s delight is in those who fear Him,
those who put their hope in His unfailing love."
--Psalm 147:11 (NLT)
When I said that prayer at 16, I was putting my hope in His unfailing love.
If you've done that, if you hope in Him, He *delights* in you. Isn't that amazing?
You know what's more amazing? If you haven't done that, and you want to, you can just call on Him and He will be your rescuer too.
"For everyone who calls on
the name of the Lord will be saved.”

He delights in you.
Don't forget that.

The Stitches
For the banner ribbon I took one strand each of red, white and blue thread and twisted them together.
I used the following stitches on this pattern:
♥ Seed Stitch (I used this to fill in the stars)
♥ Lazy Daisy (I used a partial Lazy Daisy on the birdies' eye)
♥ Chain Stitch (I used this for the chain on the birdcage)
