overlooked mug - the page
The overlooked challenge has been so fun to work on. I love just waiting to see what she tells us to do next and also seeing what everyone else is working on.
I wanted to do a mini-album to keep all these photos/pages in. I decided just a plain manila file folder would be the perfect thing for looking "overlooked", but of course there is no way I am going to do a whole 81/2 x 11 page for these (I mean....I could *say* I would, but we all know they would end up in a folder marked "to do" for like the next 10 years or something...) so I used a mini file folder template from this fabulous site and just enlarged it to make the folder about 5x7. I roughed up the folder with some sand paper and also added some smudges here and there. Most file folders that I work with for any period of time end up looking like this naturally...*LOL*...
Part of our instructions were to use a coffee ring/stain somewhere on our project so I experimented with a plate full of coffee and my mug as well as my stamps and a quill pen. Who knew it could be so fun to play with coffee stains?
So here is the cover:
I was trying to get the look of the bird and title just sort of forming from the coffee ring, but I don't think it quite made it...*LOL*...still...I really like how it turned out. I don't think I'm finished with the cover. I'll probably add some more things based on what our other assignments are.
For the pages I wanted something small and also something "overlooked" so I decided to use subscription cards and advertisement cards from magazines. They are colorful, pretty sturdy and just the right size, so I think they are going to work well.
For the first page, our favorite mug, I used a Gevalia Coffee sign-up card as the base. I mounted my photo on an old Starbucks cup sleeve from a couple of Christmases ago that I have been saving for just the right project. My journaling is tucked inside a glassine envelope that is peeking out from behind the cup sleeve.
I'm not sure how I'm going to bind the pages into the folder/album just yet. Still deciding that.
I love the size of the mini file folder. Wouldn't it be great if file folders (and all paper-y things) were really that size? Just think how cute file cabinets would be?!

"The one thing I ask of the Lord—
the thing I seek most—
is to live in the house of the Lord all the days of my life,
delighting in the Lord’s perfections
and meditating in his Temple.
For he will conceal me there when troubles come;
he will hide me in his sanctuary.
He will place me out of reach on a high rock.
Then I will hold my head high
above my enemies who surround me.
At his sanctuary I will offer sacrifices with shouts of joy,
singing and praising the Lord with music."
-Psalm 27:4-6
