This Time Last Year

A game I have often played with my sons when they were concerned about something is "this time last year".   I remind them what they were concerned about "this time last year" or maybe 3 years ago or 5 years (I go back further as they get older) and how God came through for them in that situation.  Then suddenly the current situation seems so small compared to what God did about "this time last year".

When my oldest was about to begin college classes for the first time and was feeling a little nervous I reminded him how nervous he had been about getting his driver's license (he had since become a pro at driving and God made it possible for him to purchase his first car).

When my youngest was nervous about a new class he was about to go to I reminded him about how he didn't want to go to Karate at first either (he's now a brown belt and junior instructor at 12 years old and often tells me, "that's the favor of God, mom").

Looking back at how far we've come and the amazing things God has done in our lives helps to strengthen our faith, it gives us courage knowing that God will come through for us this time, just like He always has.

When Saul tried to talk David out of fighting the giant, David remembered everything that God had been doing in his life and reminded Saul of that as well,

"But David persisted. “I have been taking care of my father’s sheep and goats,” he said. “When a lion or a bear comes to steal a lamb from the flock, I go after it with a club and rescue the lamb from its mouth. If the animal turns on me, I catch it by the jaw and club it to death.  I have done this to both lions and bears, and I’ll do it to this pagan Philistine, too, for he has defied the armies of the living God!  The Lord Who rescued me from the claws of the lion and the bear will rescue me from this Philistine!”  -1 Samuel 17:34-37

One of the wonderful benefits of faith art journaling is that it helps us to remember our victories, and the times that God has shown up for us over and over.   So for today's prompt spend some time with the Lord remembering all that He's done and choose your favorites to journal about.

The page I created this week is a digital page that I'll be printing out and adding to my journal.

I can't wait to see what you make and I'm especially excited to hear about all the ways God has blessed you!

Peace and Grace,

♥ Melissa~
